Music electrifies our minds and builds community

Thanks for visiting DCCS – we’re glad you’re here!

On this site you can learn more about DCCS programs, special events, our community work, and much more. Our identity as an organization is drawn from the diversity and creativity of our members and our community. We have a Board of Directors consisting of 9 active community members, parents, performers, and arts advocates. All programs and events strive to meet our mission while impacting the lives of individuals, their families, and their community circles.

Our Mission

To CREATE a culture of lifelong love for music;

to CONNECT with members, their families, and our community;

to DISCOVER our collective voices in song;

and to INSPIRE harmony in the world around us.

Our Programs

Powerful Learning through Musical Play

Kindermusik is a licensed program that has brought music to families worldwide since 1978. Classes are specifically designed to capture the curiosity and energy of pre-school aged children, and catapult them to school readiness. Kindermusik promotes countless benefits to children’s competency in literacy, numeracy, physical awareness, self-regulation, independence, bonding, and more. Our program, which started in 2018, is accredited in all levels and our typical year runs September to April.

A Place for Harmony in Our Community

DCCS choir programs are built with fun and learning at the core of all music making. Singers of all levels rehearse, perform, and showcase their abilities as individuals and groups. Stretch your musical horizons, improve your singing, meet new friends, and become involved in a community of leaders. Our choral program is divided into four age divisions starting at 5 years old. Choir, to us, is a vehicle for growth in the promotion of humanity, diversity, harmony, and empathy.

Join in the Razzle Dazzle of Live Theatre

In DCCS Musical Theatre, performers sing, act, and dance through the audition and rehearsal process to perform a fully staged musical theatre production. We guide performers toward engaging with their costars and audience to deliver a high-quality theatrical experience. This program is designed to lead students seamlessly into their future ventures in performance. While our main Musical Theatre program is for youth, we also will periodically run mixed-age and adult cast productions.

DCCS Members Working to Better Our World

Outside of our main program activities, the Dawson Creek Choral Society is an advocate for the arts and cultural scene in our region. We keep a finger on the pulse of community needs and identify potential gaps where our arts-based mission might fit. We believe in building a better world for future generations, and look for ways we can give back to the community through volunteering, fundraiseing, and using our events to amplify the diverse voices of our friends and neighbours.
